A native of Ireland, Sister Lilian Lynch came to Our Lady of the Lake in 1962, having received her nursing education at Marillac Sister Formation College in St. Louis, which is fondly known as “the West Point for Nuns.”
Over the years she has served as Supervisor of the Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat department at Our Lady of the Lake. She has also been active in the governance of the Health System and North American Province, serving a term on the General Council representing the North American Region.
Sister Lynch has always been especially interested in working with the poor and homeless, mainly through the Solidarity House in Baton Rouge.
She was honored in 2004 for her commitment to the Eye Bank which provides thousands of ocular tissues to patients. The humanitarian cause of the Eye Bank served as part of her own philosophy and theology of life.
In her later years Sr Lilian serves as the manager of the St Francis Chapel at Ollie Steele.
